ENCAUSTIC   PAINTING

Beeswax layers fused with heat. A durable process widely used in tomb portraits of ancient times.

# 1040C
Dakota Winter III
5" x 7"
Encaustic and Aerial Photography on Wood

$105

Winter scenes are perfect for encaustic as the snow is both white and translucent. While flying over North Dakota in early December, the snow clearly defined river streams and property boundaries. The patterns were beautiful and seemed to be endless. The paper is torn and cut and the wax is carved with assorted textures.
