Gregory Bald in the Great Smoky Mountains is famous for its
hybrid flame azaleas. They come in colors ranging from white and
salmon to deep reds and oranges. This ten acre grassy bald is at
an elevation of 4949 feet. The photograph shows the range of
colors as well as the striped buds. It's layered over rice paper
and painted to the edge of the wood.
